Welcome to our new website!

So why did we change our name?

As Shift Media, we have been helping educators, awarding bodies, professional bodies and publishers from all walks of education since 2001. Until now, our name hasn't reflected our focus on all things education and learning. We think our new name says it all, we're all about helping individuals and organisations involved in education and training to negotiate the constant changes within the sector, whether this means dealing with changing learners, changing technologies, changing formats, changing business models or changing initiatives.

What do we do?

Just as before, Shift Learning delivers insight and practical results to our clients in the following main areas of expertise:

Why work with us?

You should work with us because we understand this sector. You'll rarely have to explain the jargon or spell out the acronyms. We are professional, flexible and always attempt to give our clients the best value for money.

Finally, we pride ourselves on making things happen. At Shift Learning, insight is combined with a focus on practical results. We provide solutions that are as individual as each of our clients.

"Expertise and experience in the education sector were the principal reasons we chose to work with Shift Media. They have consistently provided an outstanding level of service, demonstrating a thorough understanding of our products, our market and our research needs. It is refreshing to work with a company with a thoughtful consultative approach, and that brings so many suggestions to the table. Working in partnership with Shift Media is always a real pleasure."

Shift News

The Publishers Association discussion on ebook strategies for 2010 threw up some interesting points for discussion, not least that publishers need to be considering usability of their ecommerce channels to be effective in the fight against piracy. While it may take a long time for standards and robust ebook strategies and business models to emerge from this changing market, it is clear that offering a better level of service than free sites by making it easy to find and buy content is something that all publishers can look to achieve now.

Many delegates from all publishing sectors appear keen to reduce the dominance currently held by Amazon in online book sales. One of the key components of Amazons online success in the past has been the gold standard experience it offers its users. See the book, like the book, one click and you’ve got the book. As Mark Carden so eloquently put it “removing the friction between wanting, buying and having” is vital. We think that site usability needs to continue to be an essential part of all publishers’ digital business strategies.
