In an accessibility audit, our accessibility expert will review your site to identify inaccessible features in the code or presentation.
We will perform manual tests, reviewing the site without a mouse, navigating using only a keyboard, and with a screen reader. We will replicate the experience of certain groups of users by turning off stylesheets, scripting, images and Flash, as well as testing the content to ensure that it is still usable by those who are colour blind, or have low vision.
Our expert will also look at where additional features could be added to the site to improve the experience of certain groups of users. A font-size enlarger could work alongside the font resize tools already available in the browser to assist those with mild to moderate eyesight problems. Skip links navigation is very useful for those using a screen reader, or navigating using the keyboard, as it allows them to skip directly to the main content from the top of the page (and avoid listening to the consistent navigation which appears on every page).
We will supply you with a detailed report of our findings, offering concrete recommendations of where improvements can be made. The report will be supplied with screenshots and written in clear language which allows both your web developers and non-technical staff to understand the work that needs to be completed in order to bring your website in line with current legislation.
Our key recommendations will be prioritised, starting with the quick wins and high impact changes. The remainder of the recommendations will be split into medium priority and then long-term changes which could be addressed in future releases of the site. This ensures that you maximise your accessibility budget.
