College of Continuing Education Walsall research case study

E-mail Print PDF

The College of Continuing Education is responsible for managing the Adult Community Learning (ACL) for the Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council and works with a number of Community Centres and other organisations large and small in the Walsall Borough.

Project

The College of Continuing Education was keen to further extend its reach into Walsall’s ethnic minority communities. Our brief was to research community needs and communications preferences.

Methodology

Community needs analysis is one of the services offered by Shift Learning to the education sector.
In this case we used a number of different methods to reach potential learners including telephone interviewing, on street interviewing and focus groups. We have a multilingual telephone interviewing team, which gave us the opportunity to reach people we wouldn’t have done otherwise.

“We aspire to being responsive and inclusive. Shift Learning (formerly Shift Media) enabled us to learn more about the needs of the communities we serve. This will inform the development of our offering to learners in future.”

Colin Bedford, Vice Principal of the College of Continuing Education, Walsall.

What our customers say about us

" I can't thank Helene and the team at Shift Learning enough for the excellent work carried out on such a major research project. From the start, the project has been managed and planned with great expertise and knowledge. The attention to detail, ability to shift gear as we went along as necessary and to provide updates all along the way has been second to none. The final reporting and presentation has provided much more than we had originally hoped for this project, giving us a wealth of detailed knowledge analysis and understanding of the market place and project which will be invaluable to the team here and for product development. I would whole-heartedly recommend Shift Learning for future market research projects and it has been a pleasure to work with Helene and the team. "
