In 2008 Letts and Lonsdale commissioned Shift Learning to perform user testing on a new website to accompany their existing eCommerce offering.
“The usability testing that Shift Learning conducted for us proved an invaluable part of the overall testing process. It has given us an insight into what works best for our users and the findings have provided us with some quick wins as well as ideas for future site improvements and enhancements. The service that we received was excellent with our requests accommodated quickly and professionally.”
Marketing Director, Letts and Lonsdale
Letts and Lonsdale were keen to ensure that the site was easy to use and met the needs of their customers, which was why usability testing was so important to them. Our objective was to identify potential barriers to purchase, before the site was made live.
Twenty-one participants were recruited by Shift Learning, made up of students, parents, primary school and secondary school teachers. This wide group of participants was required due to the nature of the website, which was split in sections depending on the user. The participants were asked to perform key tasks on the site, such as purchasing a book or setting up an account, and their behaviour subsequently observed.
We were able to provide Letts and Lonsdale with a report highlighting the areas of concern as well as practical suggestions for improvements. Problem areas were prioritised allowing the project team to make key decisions in the review process.
