As a multi-method researcher, Lucy has vast experience in both the qualitative and quantitative methods used at Shift Learning, including advanced techniques such as cognitive interviewing and Max Diff analysis. From starting with the company as a Research Assistant and progressing through to a Research Manager role, she has gained critical skills in all aspects of the research process, giving her the experience to confidently and efficiently manage projects to ensure they deliver the best results for our clients. Her friendly and approachable manner make her a great depth interviewer and focus group moderator, while her eye for detail ensures that large scale projects are able to effectively measure complex themes.

Lucy is also trained in the use of qualitative and quantitative research tools, such as SNAP survey software, Q statistical analysis tool and Atlas.ti qualitative coding software, playing a key role in the setup and analysis of projects. Her background and interest in the education sector help her to then translate this into meaningful recommendations for clients.

Having studied an undergraduate degree in Childhood, Youth and Education Studies at the University of Bath, Lucy has a keen interest in the education sector and is now central in ensuring that the team are actively keeping up to date with developments in the sectors we operate in. She is also committed to furthering her own knowledge and skills, having completed the MRS Certificate in Market and Social Research, and recently undertaken the advanced certificate.
Lucy has worked on projects for a variety of clients, across many areas within the education sector, including Oxford University Press, King’s College London, the European Society of Cardiology and Rising Stars, and has a keen interest in projects relating to curriculum and policy in schools.
