University of the Arts London wanted to investigate what could be learned from the move to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and how this experience might vary between course types. The aim of the research was to inform their future teaching and learning plans and ensure that actions taken in the aftermath of the pandemic would be sustainable.
A qualitative approach was used to capture detailed and diverse experiences of teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shift interviewed:
- The Deans of Academic Strategy.
- 45 students.
- 40 staff.
Shift developed an in-depth report covering the findings from the interviews, including the main pain points for each group with regards to online learning over the last year. The key lessons learned were highlighted to help University of the Arts London formulate sustainable changes in the future.
