Scott’s role as a Junior Research Executive at Shift Learning is a varied one. Although primarily undertaking qualitative and quantitative data analysis, he also assists with the smooth conducting of the research process. Whether this be in the form of helping to moderate focus groups and interviews, carrying out desk research or developing and reporting on research findings.
Scott joined Shift Learning following working at the University of Warwick as a Social Research Assistant and King’s College London as a Policy Research Assistant with their Biomedical Research Centre. Prior to this, Scott studied Sociology at the University of Warwick where he first developed his research skills and gained an interest in the dynamic sectors of education and health. He also studied Sociology at a postgraduate level at Warwick, where as part of his degree he carried out a dissertation encompassing detailed analysis on a range of materials relating to the UK’s referendum on its EU membership. This dissertation gave him the opportunity to engage not only with a range of qualitative research methods, but also the Grounded Theory, which is essential to Shift’s research structure.
His involvement in research has given Scott experience in conducting extensive desk research, interviews, focus groups and editorial work within both the academic and commercial sectors.
